The African Committee of Experts on the Rights and Welfare of the Child draws its mandate from articles 32-46 of the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child, which was adopted by the Heads of State and Government of the OAU on 11th July 1990 and came into force on 29th November 1999.

The ACERWC is undertaking a follow-up mission on the status of implementation of its Concluding Observations and Recommendations to the Government of Zimbabwe. The Mission started on 12 June and will culminate on 15 June 2019. During the Mission the Committee is having consultations with representatives of the relevant Ministries, UN agencies and CSOs.
