The African Committee Of Experts On The Rights And Welfare Of The Child

ACERWC

Overview

Following the entry into force of the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child on November 29, 1999, the African Committee of Experts on the Rights and Welfare of the Child was established in July 2001, in accordance with Article 32 of the Charter. The Committee is an African Union Organ mandated to monitor the implementation of the Charter as well as promote and protect children’s rights in Africa. The Committee is very peculiar as it is a regional quasi-judicial treaty body that is tasked only with children’s issues.
