STATEMENT OF THE AFRICAN COMMITTEE OF EXPERTS ON THE RIGHTS AND WELFARE OF THE CHILD WORKING GROUP ON CLIMATE CHANGE AND CHILDREN’S RIGHTS ON WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY
In 1973, the United Nations General Assembly designated June 5th as World Environment Day to emphasise the importance of preserving and promoting environmental integrity. Hence, today marks the 50th anniversary of this auspicious milestone, which is celebrated following the recent adoption by the UN General Assembly of the right to a healthy and clean environment for everyone including children.
