STATEMENT ON JOINT LETTER OF URGENT APPEAL TO THE REPUBLIC OF THE GAMBIA FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
On 14th August 2025, the African Committee of Experts on the Rights and Welfare of the Child (ACERWC/the Committee) and the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights (ACHPR/the Commission) transmitted a Joint Letter of Appeal to His Excellency Hon. Adama Barrow, President of the Republic of The Gambia, regarding the death of a one-month-old baby girl from complications following Female Genital Mutilation (FGM).
